Dear ResellerChoice customers,
We have improved how PHP error logs are stored for your websites across the shared hosting network.
Where to find your PHP error log from now on:
Each website's PHP errors are now written to one file, php_errors.log, in a folder called phplogs next to your site's wwwroot folder. You can open it via FTP or the control panel File Manager. Previously, PHP created a separate *_errors.log file in every folder of your website where a script ran; those old files have been removed.
Why? Security and stability:
- Error logs can no longer be downloaded from the web. They can reveal file paths, database details and other information useful to attackers, and are now kept outside your public website folder.
- PHP no longer needs to write inside your website folder to log errors.
- Logs are capped: once a log passes 100 MB, it is trimmed to the most recent 20 MB, so a faulty script can no longer fill your disk space.
- We are alerted when a site's log grows unusually fast, a common sign of a broken or abused script.
No action is required on your part. If you have any questions, please open a support ticket.
Sincerely,
ResellerChoice Support
