In order to improve the security of our network, we will soon be modifying the default remote connection port of the SQL server systems from the default port of 1433 to the new port of 14330.
This will have no impact over your web sites and you do not need to make any changes to your sites.
The only impact will be when connecting to our SQL 2008 servers from outside of our network for example when connecting from a management software such as sql management studio from your local desktop or office. If you currently have a dedicated, cloud or vps server with us and use our hosted SQL 2008 servers please contact support for further assistance.
The switchover to the new port will occur on August 14th 2011 at 12AM EST.
From that point on to connect remotely to SQL you will need to specify the servername as:
sqlservername.realssl.com,14330 instead of sqlservername.realssl.com
Please note that this only applies to MS-SQL 2008 servers, not MySQL 5. If you only have MySQL 5 databases you can safely disregard this notice.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this notice, please submit a support ticket in the client area located at http://client.resellerchoice.com
