HOW TO: Create an Instant alias / temporary URL to browse a site before DNS is pointed

If you have a web site that you want to be able to test / browse before DNS is pointed to our servers, you will need to create an Instant Alias.

  1. Login to the control panel https://panel.realssl.com
  2. Click your Space name in the center pane under "Hosting Spaces"
  3. From the top menu bar, go to Hosting Space menu > Domains
  4. Click the domain name you want to create an Instant Alias for
  5. Click "Create Instant Alias"
  6. You will now have a URL in the format http://yourdomain.com.temp.reassl.com to browse your site. Note that if you are using an application that is sensitive to the hostname such as DNN or wordpress, you will need to add/edit the hostname in the application database in order to be able to see the site correctly.
Reseller Note: If you want to change the Instant alias URL to your own domain name rather than temp.realssl.com please review this article.
